HYBRID at NY BOTANICAL GARDEN ORCHID SHOW

This beautiful orchid, which I think resembles a Daffodil, is the Cattlianthe Gold Digger "Orchid Jungle”.  Upon researching Gold Digger, I discovered that it is a hybrid that has sparked an ongoing debate regarding its origin and parentage.  The most common and widespread theory is that the parents are Laeliocattleya Red Gold and Cattleya Warpaint.

Tossing aside the shackles of its bastard moniker, Gold Digger produces flowers that grow to approximately 2½ inches across and have a pleasant perfume fragrance.
